Greetings

As a direct result of the training camp with Eric Kokish, I have been tempted to take up some non essential switch (NES)carding as suggested by matt granovetter. In situations where the partner of the opening leader has a known suit length (either they have supported partner in in the auction or declarer's bidding has marked leaders partner with some probable length) that partner's low card indicates Aor K in the obvious switch, a middle card suggests some random cards and a high card suggests the non=obvious switch. I am seeking help in the gathering of such hands. In my small sample of hands, I have seen some great hands and disasters for the method. Some of the big problems occur when a high card is intended as a non obvious switch and is mistaken as a suit preference signal.

Thus sitting over the dummy where you have raised partners hearts and declarer is in 4S you might play under partners HA lead

the 2 with hand 1, the 6 with hand 2, and the nine with hand 3.

So if you can help and gather data you can help me get married to the plan or cast the idea into the darkwst of dungeons

This Obvious Switch stuff is not for everyone. It's often not necessary and is better handled by simple suit preference.

The Summary circulated at Camp digests the Granovetters' book pretty well but anyone interested might wish to read the book: "A Switch in Time" and also subscribe to the online magazine Bridge Today, which is worth the modest price. Certainly OzOne should have access to all english-languge magazines, from which we should be circulating articles of general interest.
If this is not lready being done, please consider this as a request for OzOne funding ASAP. Subscription to Margi, who will cull and scan relevant pieces for general circulation. Alternatively, all OzOne squad members can advise Margi about which publications they currently receive to avoid duplicating effort.

Meanwhile, I have been saving the monthly instalments of the mag's "Switch in Time" Forum, which appears in nearly every issue. I am going to forward these to Margi to be sent to OzOne squad members (only) that are interested in seeing how the method works in real life examples.
