what do you lead from Q1093 against NTs and nobody has bid the suit? the 3 or the 9/10 depending on your methods. why?

I generally lead low.

The decision seems to be a function of: whether the Jack third is in dummy (lead high) vs the probability that declarer or dummy will have 4 cards in the suit (lead low).

To me that seems to favour leading low. It's a lot tougher from QT932. Now the odds are probably swayed in favour of leading high.

you probably wouldnt lead this suit if you knew or thought that one of the opposing hands had 4 cards in the suit - i agree with crazy dave that if you did lead the suit with that expectation you would obviously lead low

in all other cases my inclination is to lead high to avoid blockage and given that i usually play thirds from interior honour sequences it commonly announces what i have

If you are leading against 1NT-3NT or 1NT all pass. And you choose to lead this suit then I'd say the chance that one of the opponents has 4 cards in this suit is relatively high. Certainly higher than specifically Jack third in dummy. And most certainly higher than partner having 5.

Am I missing something - does leading high cater for more holdings than Jack third in dummy (with or without a higher honour)?

if pard has honour 5th you block the suit up. Against 3N i guess still right to lead low? just get embarrassed every now and then

Since my partner and I play Journalist leads against NTs I would lead the 9 promising the 10 and a higher honour
