Interbase server ?

I just downloaded and installed the ASE8 demo, when I run it I get a dialog box saying "Interbase server not installed unable to continue. Please install interbase server and client"

So where do I get an interbase server and client?

I've had to RTFM. So I guess my question is now "Why doesn't the download/install program download and install everything it needs?"

I wanna be protected from my own ignorance - assume nothing and I'll deliver.

As explained in the installation screen you need to install both parts.

you could have interbase installed already or you may choose to pay money for the Borland product.

Also during later installations/updates the download of Firebird is not necessary.

In particular, if you pay for the CD and manual the automatic installation does all you ask for. Detects the presence of Interbase, installs if necessary and then installs ASE 8.

At least the program did tell you what the problem was. You get what you pay for.
