View Full Version : Updated National File
Hi,
How can I update the National File with the current Masterpoint Rankings?
Also, our own club rankings.

The ASE Scorer has the option of having two player files open at the same time. The club members file (the masterfile) and the abf members. The later (called the national file) is used as a tool to find players for inclusion in events or even in the club masterfile. The national file can be rebuilt each quarter using the file called abf.fil found in the ABF2ASE.exe available on the abf site at abf2ASE.htm (http://www.masterpoints.org.au/files/HELP/abf2ase.htm)
This file does not contain masterpoint figures. The ABF site supplies a service to view players masterpoints for all members. Details on this file are found at national help (http://www.masterpoints.org.au/files/HELP/nat_help.htm). That file is found at national.exe (http://www.masterpoints.org.au/files/NATIONAL/national.exe)
The ASE club members masterfile contains all the finalised events. The player's statements may be produced showing all these events, including the masterpoint ranks and current totals. These may be updated each month, and are available after the ASE 8 [imports][masterpoints] option has been selected and the figures loaded from the abf_rank.txt file. The availability of this file is currently being organised with the ABF.
Clubs with the manual and CD will have all their members names available on the CD. Those without the CD can ask the ABF masterpoint center for their club members' names and addresses file (registered home members for ASE usually called homeregi.txt). This file is loaded using the [imports][members from ABF] option. Normally this is only done once when the masterfile is first created.
The masterpoint totals for all your club players are now available from the abf masterpoint web site.
ASE files page. (http://www.masterpoints.org.au/downloads.htm#ABF2ASEFiles)
Download the abf_rank.exe file from there. Run the program and it produces two files, abf_rank.txt and a program to extract a club.
You would usually use the complete abf_rank.txt file rather than extract your club players to another file. The reason is, you may have players at your club who are not home club members at your club, and so they would not be in the reduced file. Only players in your members database file are updated.
