Good advice. An additional point that I read somewhere about thirty years ago: make sure you actually look at the cards when people play them, every trick. If you do zone out during the play and have to reconstruct a trick or two from memory, it's surprising just what you can remember when you try. But if you didn't see the cards, there's nothing there to remember - you have no chance.

And if you think that's kind of a trivial point, keep an eye on the other players when you are dummy for what looks like a routine contract. You will be amazed at how often defenders and declarers get bored while a long suit is being run, and start flipping cards almost with their eyes closed.
