We have a problem with the outright score reports in our annual club championships - these are played once per month over ten months with the worst score dropped after a number of months. Aggregation is by percentages.

What I am seeing is as follows:

1. The first time we need to drop the worst score to date I score up the latest session and then use Results tab | Best Results and enter the number of sessions to date and 1 for the number of worst scores to drop. You can see the R4 outright reports before and after this elimination in the attached zip file.

2. A month later when we score the R5 session the outright report before we do the adjustment to remove the worst session score starts with, in some cases, an inexplicable Prior score, showing numbers near but not always the same as the R4 adjusted scores and no where near the R4 full scores. You can see the R5 outright reports before and after the elimination in the attached zip file. Look at outright pairs 6 and 30 for examples of prior scores that I cannot explain at all. Pair 6 has played all the sessions. Pair 30 missed one so the worst score dropped would be 0 for that pair.

Obviously could be user error involved. I would have attached the ASE event file also but it is too large even zipped (about 210kb). This event has a couple of multi section sessions scored by section, but the problem exists in the other club championships without the multi-section sessions.

The endpoint we would like to get to is for the correct adjusted outright results to be picked up by Milica's automated web results reporting, but first we need to get the outright results reported correctly.

Thanks for your help.

The confusion seems to be about the "best n scores" really means.
Only the total is recalculated after dropping the scores.
Prior scores in the report is the same as all scores included.

Hi Ian,

sorry for the late response, but somehow I missed being alerted to your response.

I don't understand what you are saying. When I do the best results routine the Prior column values on the Outright report do change. In the reports I attached you can see that Pair no 16, the leading pair, show for R4 before adjustment
Prior 192.5 % 57.9 Total 250.4
and for R4 after adjustment show
Prior 133.6 & 58.9 Total 192.5 (in their case their R4 result was the worst of their 4 results to date).

This 192.5 appears as the Prior for the R5 report as well.

Did I misunderstand what you were saying?

These two types of reports cannot be used with each other.
After ranking R4 you must rescore all session to get the right Pre-ranking for R5.
Then do best n ranking for R5.
And then only the total may be correct?

Ouch! If I understand you that doesn't sound all that great - there should at least be a loud warning that the best n adjustment needs to undone before proceeding with a next round.

I have edited our instructions to our directors (new point 10) at the following URL http://northernbeachesbridge.info/directors-corner/66-ase-scorer/133-using-ase-8-for-multi-session-events. Any comments you had would be appreciated to make sure I now have this right.

The problem is the outright results cannot be masterpointed if the best "n" results are used.
Therefore only the standard outright results are valid for this purpose.
To masterpoint these types of events it is important to use the "Eclectic event" option.
