Trying to install ASE8 on new PC running Vista.Won't install,says"error creating registry system"Any ideas please?

This is a permissions issue.
I guess you have "administrator" rights? Vista has tighter privileges.
Try right clicking on the setup and select "Run As Administrator" and see how it goes. Although you are an administrator, I understand Vista will try to run with reduced permissions.

This also applies to Windows 7

Also when you run ASE8 for the first time use the "Run As Administrator"option too.

ASE Scorer 8 install kit 1.0.96.0 now solves this issue.
It works without any errors in the registry set up for both Vista and Windows 7.
The 'run as administrator' procedure is no longer required.
The user must have administrator permissions as usual.
